These days people in the USA are all wondering one thing: what is going on with ICE? First we must talk about what ICE really is. ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is a federal agency whose main aim is to deport illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin. It was founded in 2003 as a branch of the DHS (Department of Homeland Security), a department created after the attack on the twin towers on 9/11. Since the creation of the agency ICE agents have worked with the government to deport millions of immigrants back to their homeland, but why are people going after Trump only now? In July 2025 the president signed the OBBBA (One Big Beautiful Bill Act). With this Bill the president is set to increase the budget of ICE by 100$ BILLIONS by 2029 and to put this in prospective, this budget is higher than the military budget of many countries such as Germany, India, the UK and only being below the military spending budget of China, The Usa and Russia (according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute or SIPRI). President Trump also decided to switch from the traditional 5 Months training to 47 days because he is the “47th” president, according to Democratic Senator Mark Warner during an interview at CNN news. The real spark tough happened in Minneapolis on the morning of the 7th January 2026. On this date a writer, Renee Nicole Good, was on her SUV filming ICE agents making an arrest when the ICE Agent approached her, she tried to make distance between her and him by slowly driving away. The ICE agent thought that she was trying to run him over and he shot her, giving her a fatal wound that led to death. The incident was brought up by a lot of high profile republicans, including but not limited to Kristi Noem (the secretary of homeland security), Donald Trump and Karoline Leavitt (the secretary for the White House press) and they all shared one common version of what happened. To put it shortly they claimed that Renee was a “far left activist” that was there to stop the ICE agents from arresting the immigrant, that she was there to cause commotion and that she tried to hurt the ICE agent on purpose. This version was then quickly dismissed after analysing the footage, proving that Renee Good was not trying to hurt the agent in any way, shape or form. This event sparked the reaction of the community of Minneapolis that took it upon themselves to warn everyone as soon as they see an ICE agent by blowing a whistle and record everything whenever they see an ICE agent arresting someone. Unfortunately Renee Good was not the only person that died because of ICE. On the 24th of January, still in Minneapolis, an ICU nurse, Alex Pretti, was seen with a larger group of people filming the arrest of an illegal immigrant. What seemed to tick off the agents was the fact that the victim had a gun on his person, which in the USA is completely normal according to the 2nd amendment. The agents started to pepper spray him, some of them started to pin Alex down and after some commotion the agents pinned down the victim and shot him. People at the scene claim that they heard around 10 shots fired in the span of 5 seconds. This caused even more disdain among the community and now the governor of Minnesota, Tim Waltz, and the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, are calling to dismantle ICE in Minnesota entirely. Secretary Kristi Noem said “This individual impeded the law enforcement officers and attacked them,” although they still haven’t given any evidence proving that. Recently Trump also added that he had separate phone calls with both the mayor and the governor and they all agreed that the current situation couldn’t go on any longer. The mayor also added that he was going to remove some of the ICE agents involved but he’s pushing to remove all the agents involved. Protests and protestants are rising all through the USA to show their support while the government is calling for Kristi Noem to step down as secretaryof homeland security otherwise they are gonna start the impeaching process for the crimes of ICE agents. All in all this situation is very complicated but there’s no doubt that these agents must be faced in a court of law for their crimes against these people.
